By way of some interesting tech and the Wii U version of Zelda: Breath of The Wild, speedrunner RasenUrns nearly hit a new world (amiibo use) record. As usual there’s a lot of stasis trickery, including a bit 18 minutes in where they prepare a tree, use stasis to prepare it for launch, then ride it to the next required shrine. They do it again at roughly 21 minutes in and 22:30 and man is it a sight to behold!

We’ve seen plenty of physics manipulation in this past year, but it’s crazy to see the tech implemented in speedruns as folks tap more and more into granular ways to shave seconds off their time. Speaking of time RasenUrns managed to hit 38 minutes, 36 seconds; and as is typical for a speedrun he defeats the final boss with just the three starting hearts.

In case you were curious Wolhaiksong still holds the amiibo run world record at three seconds faster than RasenUrns. Even so, the marathon is far from over! We could see someone come completely out of left field with something new.
