Get ready to rumble

Bandai Namco’s cool & cute rhythm action game Taiko no Tatsujin is coming to Nintendo Switch in Japan later this month. However, if a recent listing on the Australian video games classification board is to be believed, the West will also get in on the skin-bashing action.

A cultural phenomenon in Japan and a regular haunt of the arcade scene, Taiko no Tatsujin require rapid-fire, hand-to-eye coordination, a great sense of rhythm and surprisingly strong forearms, as players bash their way through tunes in a manner akin to Nintendo classic Donkey Konga.

There was already word out that an English language patch would be applied to the Japanese Switch release. With this ratings classification – under the name Taiko Drum ‘n’ Fun – chances are Western audiences will see a fully localised release in the future. Of course, we also need to get the drum accessories on these shores, or there’s no point. So fingers crossed for an announcement soon.

Taiko no Tatsujin launches in Japan on Nintendo Switch July 19.
