‘Tencent TGP Box’

Tencent, the mega-corporation that owns Riot Games (and by proxy, League of Legends) andis a near-majority shareholder of Epic Games (at 48.4%), has announced a new console coming to China called the “Tencent Games Platform,” or “TGP.”

Think of it like a Steam Machine, in a way, running on Windows 10 on a 6th generation Intel processor. Touted games include NBA 2K Online, League of Legends, and Monster Hunter Online, all of which are free-to-play, and all of which are based on properties in conjunction with Tencent.

If you haven’t heard of Tencent yet, brush up on it. It’s been quietly making an impact on the industry for some time now, and it’s just a matter of time until it permeates everything. I never thought Nintendo would partner withDeNA, for instance — anything can happen!
